Columbus Day - Creating Boats from Found Materials
No reviews
We love this boat craft we found over at Naturally Educational. Created using found and recycled materials, your students will have a blast taking a field trip to the school yard to collect twigs for their projects. Additionally, we think this is a great way to show your students how items found around the house can be repurposed!
Other things we love...
- It's three-dimensional! The boat and sails stand up on their own and the 'waves' lapping at the side of the ship - created using scraps of blue tissue paper - are super cool!
- It's inspired by real expedition ships of the time period! Before beginning the project, Candace printed out a picture for inspiration. She and her daughter used it to make sure they had the correct number of masts, that the sails/flags were accurately placed, etc.
The result is super cool and offers a great take-home lesson reminder! Be sure to head on over to Naturally Educational for the project tutorial!
