More French Fry Math!
If you prefer not to advertise for the fast food places in your area, here's a cute alternative that will still provide your kiddos with practice in counting and numeral recognition - as well as a bit of fine motor building!
- Create ten to twelve paper food baskets. We made ours using this template {found at Zakka Life} - printing several copies onto white card stock and decorating them with red marker, then cutting and folding them into baskets as directed. [NOTE: You might also consider printing the template directly onto colorfully patterned card stock or scrapbook paper.]
- Use word processing software or a marker and paper to create number labels to paste onto the bottom of each basket.
- Gather yellow play dough, a cutting board, and a crinkle cutter. Invite your kiddos to mold the dough into a rectangle, using the crinkle cutter to create "french fries" {a fun fine motor builder!}.
- To play, have your students identify the numeral in the bottom of the selected basket, cut and count out the correct number of "french fries", placing them in the homemade fry basket.
