Wilderness Guides - Camping Themed Helper & Classroom Jobs Bulletin Board Idea
Update your classroom helpers display - camping style! - with this fun and colorful idea! We love the layered borders, the vibrant bulletin board letters, the mix of patterns, and the wilderness explorer theme complete with custom job patches and student ranger badges! If you're doing a camping theme this year, this board would make a great addition to your decorating plans.
DIY Job Patches
When we thought of junior wilderness explorers, we immediately thought of vests filled with merit badges and decided to pull that theme into the design of the board when creating the job signs. All of the badges were created using a blank embroidered badge template and free clip art.
We created the job signs by simply downloading some free camouflage patterned backgrounds (woodland patterns, of course!) and several free fonts - Rick Mueller’s free Pinewood font from FontSpace and CloutierFontes' free CF Jack Story font from FontSpace. For some extra fun, we attempted to 'translate' the job titles using wilderness lingo - i.e. Line Leader = Trail Guide, Pencil Sharpener = Wood Collector, etc.
DIY Explorer Badges
Like the job patches, we thought it would be cute to create a badge for each new 'wilderness explorer' and use them to assign classroom tasks. Again, all of the badges were created using a blank embroidered badge template.
Add the DIY job signs to a board covered with natural brown butcher paper, using the DIY explorer badges to assign jobs, then finish off the design with colorful bulletin board letters and nature inspired bulletin board borders. [NOTE: We liked using the tree bark trimmer and leaf border to create a fun layered look!] The results are super cute and are sure to go with your other classroom themed decor!
