"Tell Me, Tree" Earth Day FREEbie
Can you blieve Earth Day is only a couple short weeks away? Get your Earth Day celebration started with this fantastic FREEbie provided by Susan from Thank God It's First Grade.
"Tell Me, Tree" Earth Day Craftivity
Susan provides everything you will need (templates, etc.) here. Once you've snagged your templates, you will need the following to complete this cutie:
- Sky blue construction paper (background)
- Brown construction paper (tree trunk)
- Green construction paper (different shades for leaves)
- Pencils
- Crayons
- Scissors
- Glue
In preparation, trace and copy tree trunks onto brown construction paper and write "Tell Me, Tree" across the trunk for each student. You will also need a bunch of leaves copied onto different shades of green construction paper. Then, get together as a class to read the book Tell Me, Tree by Gail Gibbons and take some time to come up with a bubble map for all things trees!
Have your students cut out their tree trunks and leaves and glue them to their blue paper to begin the craft. Then, have your students use the classroom bubble map you put together earlier to write facts about trees onto each one of their leaves (8 leaves per student).
Students can then fill in the background on their papers however they choose - a Springtime rainbow scene, a thunderstorm, lots of flowers - it's up to them! Check out a few examples from Susan's class:
