Day 1: Beach Balls

Draw a beach ball or use we've provided and invite your kiddos to complete one of the following projects...

  • Print the template onto card stock and use colored construction paper or art tissue paper torn into pieces to collage the cutout.
  • On card stock cutouts, have students use homemade puffy paint to color in the beach ball sections.
  • Have students use unique graphic art tools to paint/color the sections of the beach ball. {These rubber band paint brushes from TinkerLab look pretty fun!}

Day 2: Beach Pails & Shovels

1. Create card stock templates for both a beach pail and shovel. Trace cutouts onto colored construction paper and cut out the pieces. Again, you can use the .

2. Have students decorate their beach pails as desired. Provide beach cutouts {i.e. seashells, fish, crabs, etc.}, glitter, sequins, graphic art tools, and other craft supplies for them to use. You might also consider having your students add hand prints like the original bulletin board!

3. Glue the pail handle and shovel to the beach pail.

  • Background: Cover the top half of the board with white bulletin board paper. Add natural or yellow background paper to the bottom half of the board, cutting a slight wave along the top, along with a strip of blue bulletin board paper to place along the bottom. Use scissors to create a wavy edge along the top of the blue paper as well.
  • Title: "Summer Fun With ____________ [Room 203, Mrs. Nelson's Class, Kindergarten, etc]!"
  • Border: Complimentary solid color trimmer or ocean theme border.
  • Decoration: Use your students' crafts, adding several accent cutouts {i.e. seashells and crabs along the "sand" and fish/sea animals in the "ocean"}.
