Making the Shirt
The process is pretty self-explanatory, but here's a brief tutorial!
Cover each workstation with newspaper and lay out the tank tops or t-shirts, being sure to smooth any wrinkles. Working in pairs (or with an adult), invite students to use a paint brush to cover their entire hand with blue fabric paint.
Keeping their fingers close (but not completely smashed together), have students carefully and firmly press their painted hand to the left side of the shirt.
Invite them to carefully peel their hand from the shirt. The result should look something like this. *Have students wash up before moving to the next step!
Provided with a tray of red fabric paint and a paint brush, have students paint three red stripes next to their hand print - making sure that they leave a strip of white shirt showing between the strokes!
And here's a look at the finished craft!
