"I Can Take Care of My Teeth Kit" Dental Health Activity
Learning about the importance of dental health in the classroom can be a great way to bridge the gap between home and school, and perhaps, help students to get past some of the barriers of learning that might be encountered in other environments (e.g. they're not nervous/scared like they might be at the dentist and hearing "taking care of your teeth is important!" from a teacher can be different than hearing it from mom and dad). Not to mention, the ability to do a bit of hands-on learning makes the process a more fun! Take this super fun egg carton brushing/flossing activity that we found over at Learn and Grow Designs for example! Super fun and interactive, we know your kiddos will have a blast with it!
Materials
recycled egg cartons
yarn cut into small sections
inexpensive toothbrushes
tooth label for egg carton {optional}
Completing the Activity
It really is quite simple. Provide each of your students with an egg carton, a piece of yarn, and a toothbrush. Your kiddos can then use the tools to practice flossing...
...and brushing!
When they're not in use, the 'floss' and toothbrush can be stored inside the egg carton!
And, to make it super official, you can create cute tooth labels like these, using the labels Shauna created and provides for free at her blog!
Nothing beats a hands-on activity; especially one as fun as this! We know your kiddos will have a blast learning about good dental hygiene and the importance of taking care of their teeth!
