Add a space twist to sensory play with this exciting playdough idea featured by Sally over at Fairy Dust Teaching. Your kiddos are sure to love the sparkle with added glitter and space-themed items (fun change of pace from typical playdough time) and it's a perfect way to incorporate sensory play into your space unit!

Making the Playdough:

Ingredients for Making Galaxy Playdough

2 Cups plain flour

2 Cups water (with black and blue food coloring added)

1 Tbsp cooking oil

1 Tbsp cream of tartar

1 Cup salt

Start by combining your liquid ingredients in a sauce pan and begin heating on the stove. Be sure you've added enough food coloring into your water to create a rich color (Sally said she used an entire bottle of black and a small amount of blue).

In a separate bowl, mix together your dry ingredients and then add to the liquid concoction once it's had a chance to heat up. Stir continuously until the dough comes together and thickens. Then let it cool for a little while and knead it to get to the correct playdough consistency. Make sure you then store it in an air tight container until you're ready to use!

Galaxy Playdough Fun

Sally provided a piece of playdough for each of her kiddos along with a small amount of glitter they could roll the playdough in to create their 'star-speckled' galaxies (try blue and/or silver glitter to keep in line with the space theme).
